Pedestrian Fatally Struck Near Kearney and US 65 — Springfield’s 11th Traffic Fatality of 2025
A tragic accident occurred late Monday night when a pedestrian was struck and killed while attempting to cross Kearney Street near U.S. Highway 65. According to the Springfield Police Department, the individual was not using a crosswalk at the time of the collision.
The incident marks Springfield’s 11th traffic-related fatality of the year, resulting in a total of 12 lives lost on city roadways in 2025.
Incident Overview
On June 23, 2025, at approximately 11:55 p.m., Springfield Police officers responded to reports of a pedestrian-involved crash near the intersection of Kearney Street and US 65.
Investigators say 46-year-old Lori Alsup of Springfield was driving a 1997 Toyota Camry eastbound on Kearney, crossing the overpass above Highway 65. Near the northbound exit ramp, her vehicle struck a pedestrian who was crossing the street outside of a designated crosswalk.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries and later died as a result. Authorities are working to notify the individual’s next of kin.
