Raleigh and Arozarena Power Mariners Past Royals in 6–2 Victory

SEATTLE — Cal Raleigh and Randy Arozarena delivered big performances Monday night as the Seattle Mariners defeated the Kansas City Royals 6–2 at T-Mobile Park.

Raleigh launched his MLB-leading 33rd home run to lead off the seventh inning, energizing the crowd with chants of “MVP! MVP!” The blast came off Royals reliever Daniel Lynch IV and added to Raleigh’s league-best 71 RBIs. He also contributed a sacrifice fly in the fifth.

Arozarena made his mark with two home runs, including a solo shot in the fourth—his 100th career homer—to put the Mariners on the board. He followed up with a three-run homer in the fifth, breaking the game open with his 10th long ball of the season. It was Arozarena’s first multi-homer game since July 20, 2024.

Mariners starter George Kirby (2-4) turned in another solid outing, allowing just one run on three hits over six innings, striking out five and issuing no walks. It was his second consecutive start giving up only three hits over six innings.

Royals starter Michael Wacha (4-8) struggled, giving up five runs on eight hits in five innings.

Notable Moments

The Royals had a chance to rally in the eighth, loading the bases with one out. But Mariners reliever Trent Thornton held firm, retiring Bobby Witt Jr. and Maikel Garcia on groundouts to limit Kansas City to a single run.

Quick Stats

  • Bobby Witt Jr. drove in both of Kansas City’s runs and extended his road hitting streak to 20 games, just two shy of the Royals’ franchise record.
  • Raleigh remains the league leader in both home runs (33) and RBIs (71).

What’s Next

The four-game series continues Tuesday as Royals right-hander Michael Lorenzen (4-8, 4.91 ERA) takes the mound against Mariners righty Emerson Hancock (3-3, 5.43 ERA).
